Increasing production capacity may necessitate the facility to cater for higher hazardous area category (e.g., H-Occupancy) design features, such as specialized building construction and potential blast zones. [...]an assessment should cover: * Quantification of flammable material use for production steps, including buffer preparation and LNP storage * Equipment and facility cleaning strategies that contribute to the facility flammable materials inventory * Impact of HVAC design to avoid hazardous atmospheres (e.g., full fresh air), use of local exhaust ventilation (LEV) or fume hoods * Solvent distribution methods (e.g., closed solvent delivery and waste removal systems) * Location of solvent bulk storage outside of the processing area/ facility, and piping in what is necessary plus removing spent solvent in a timely manner (e.g., piped transfer to a waste tank for removal by a specialist contractor). At present, the process cannot be fully single-use, so thought needs to be put into the cleaning and sterilization processes, plus the analytical support infrastructure needed for reusable product-contact surfaces. ABSTRACT

Contemporarily, COVID-19 shows a sign of recurrence in Mainland China. To better understand the situation, this paper investigates the growth pattern of COVID-19 based on the research of past data through regression models. The proposed work collects the data on COVID-19 in Mainland China from January 21st, 2020, to April 30th, 2020, including confirmed, recovered, and death cases. Based on polynomial regression and support vector machine regressor, it predicts the further trend of COVID-19. The paper uses root mean squared error to evaluate the performance of both models and concludes that there is no best model due to the high frequency of daily changes. According to the analysis, support vector machine regressors fit the growth of COVID-19 confirmed case better than polynomial regression does. The best solution is to utilize different types of models to generate a range of prediction result. These results shed light on guiding further exploration of the growth of COVID-19. © 2023 SPIE.

ABSTRACT

Many zoonotic diseases are found in wild animals and present a serious risk to human health, in particularly the virus carried by birds flying freely around the world is hard to control. There are three main bird migration routes which cover the most areas of China. It is important to investigate and fully understand the types of avian transmitted diseases in key areas on the bird migration routines and its impacts on both birds and human health. However, no literature is available in how about the risk of virus carried by migrating birds, and how to predict and reduce this risk of virus spreading to human being so far. In this paper, we first reviewed the main pathogen types carried by birds, including coronaviruses, influenza viruses, parasites, Newcastle disease virus (NDV), etc., and then discussed the spread risk of avian viruses to human being and animals in key areas of biosafety prevention. We also analyzed and discussed the risk of cross-spread of diseases among different bird species in nature reserves located on bird migration routes which provide sufficient food sources for migratory birds and attract numerous birds. Diseases transmitted by wild birds pose a serious threat to poultry farms, where high density of poultry may become avian influenza virus (AIV) reservoirs, cause a risk of avian influenza outbreaks. Airports are mostly built in suburban areas or remote areas with good ecological environment. There are important transit places for bird migration and densely populated areas, which have serious risk of disease transmission. Finally, this paper puts forward the following prevention suggestions from three aspects. First, establish and improve the monitoring and prediction mechanism of migratory birds, and use laser technology to prevent contact between wild birds and poultry. Second, examine and identify virus types carried by birds in their habitats and carry out vaccination. Third, protect the ecological environment of bird habitat, and keep wild birds in their natural habitat, so as to reduce the contact between wild birds and human and poultry, and thus reduce the risk of virus transmission.

According to expert opinion, the incorporation of effective adjuvants that can trigger both mucosal and systemic immune responses are necessary for noninvasive vaccine delivery, and a more extensive understanding of mucosal immunity is required (4). To overcome these potential issues, it has been suggested by some experts that gelling agents, such as polymers, included in the formulation could increase the residence time of the vaccine in the nasal passage (5). Another potential intranasal candidate from Altimmune is no longer in development as a result of inadequate immune response in healthy volunteers (8).

ABSTRACT

Coronavirus illness, which was initially diagnosed in 2019 but has propagated rapidly across the globe, has led to increased fatalities. According to professional physicians who examined chest CT scans, COVID-19 behaves differently than various viral cases of pneumonia. Even though the illness only recently emerged, a number of research investigations have been performed wherein the progression of the disease impacts mostly on the lungs are identified using thoracic CT scans. In this work, automated identification of COVID-19 is used by using machine learning classifier trained on more than 1000+ lung CT Scan images. As a result, immediate diagnosis of COVID-19, which is very much necessary in the opinion of healthcare specialists, is feasible. To improve detection accuracy, the feature extraction method are applied on regions of interests. Feature extraction approaches, including Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT), Grey Level Cooccurrence Matrix (GLCM), Grey Level Run Length Matrix (GLRLM), and Grey-Level Size Zone Matrix (GLSZM) algorithms are used. Then the classification by using Support Vector Machines (SVM) is used. The classification accuracy is assessed by using precision, specificity, accuracy, sensitivity and F-score measures. Among all feature extraction methods, the GLCM approach has given the optimum classification accuracy of 95.6%. . © 2023 IEEE.

Telma Lery Janssen EMEA therapeutic area lead for infectious diseases and vaccines at Johnson & Johnson, explains that the company's COVID-19 vaccine candidate (also known as Ad26.COV2.S, Ad26COVS1, VAC31518, JNJ-78436735, or Ad26-S.PP) is a monovalent, recombinant, inactivated/non-infective adenovirus vector (similar to a cold virus), which contains a transgene that codes for the coronavirus spike (S) protein. The vaccine technology, AdVac, is based on the development and production of adenovirus vectors (gene carriers). Adenovirus vectors (gene carriers) are genetically altered forms of an adenovirus and lack the DNA needed to replicate. Some of the main differences between a COVID-19 oral tablet vaccine from injectable COVID-19 vaccines, according to Tucker, include: * Immune responses are triggered in the mucosa and the serum with a COVID-19 oral tablet vaccine (based on preclinical and clinical testing), unlike the existing vaccines that are serum-only. * Ease of distribution and vaccination with a COVID-19 oral tablet vaccine, which eliminates the need for special accommodations to transport injectable vaccines that require cold chain infrastructure as well as the need for trained professionals to administer vaccines.

ABSTRACT

This work utilizes Sentinel-2A L1C remote sensing photographs from the years 2018, 2020, and 2022 to identify the different land use categories in the study area using the support vector machine (SVM) technique. The accuracy of categorization is greater than 90%. This research explores four factors of the dynamic change in land use in Hongta District from 2018 to 2022: the proportion of various types of land;the extent of something like the changing land usage;land use transfer;and the dynamic degree of the change in land use. According to the study's results, the proportion of cultivated and grassland land grew, while the quantity of barren and construction land fell by 1.90 percent, 0.03 percent, and 0.69 percent, respectively. The water system land portion of total area increased by 2.58 percent and 0.13 percent, respectively. After comparing the two research periods, the entire dynamic degree of the second stage is determined to be 3.5 percent lower than that of the first stage, and the pace of land use change is quite sluggish, which may be associated with the worldwide COVID-19 outbreak in 2020. The outcomes of the research may give the natural resources department the knowledge it needs to manage land resources properly. © 2023 SPIE.

Water downstream from factory farms harbours an invisible threat to people's health which could eclipse the COVID-19 crisis. The threat? Antibiotic Resistance Genes (ARGs) which are driving antimicrobial resistance the world's superbug crisis - projected to kill up to 10 million people annually by 2050. This publication reports the presence of ARGs in animal waste discharged from industrial farms into public waterways or onto soil (or crops) in four countries. Gauge community impact and sentiment regarding the issue was also highlighted. The water and sediment from public water courses connected to effluent discharges from 6-10 pig farms were tested in each of four countries (Canada, Spain, Thailand and the USA).

ABSTRACT

Risk and predisposing factors for viral zoonoses abound in the sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) region with significant public health implications. For several decades, there have been several reports on the emergence and re-emergence of arbovirus infections. The lifetime burden of arboviral diseases in developing countries is still poorly understood. Studies indicate significant healthcare disruptions and economic losses attributed to the viruses in resource-poor communities marked by impairment in the performance of daily activities. Arboviruses have reportedly evolved survival strategies to aid their proliferation in favorable niches, further magnifying their public health relevance. However, there is poor knowledge about the viruses in the region. Thus, this review presents a survey of zoonotic arboviruses in SSA, the burden associated with their diseases, management of diseases as well as their prevention and control, mobility and determinants of infections, their vectors, and co-infection with various microorganisms. Lessons learned from the ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic coupled with routine surveillance of zoonotic hosts for these viruses will improve our understanding of their evolution, their potential to cause a pandemic, control and prevention measures, and vaccine development.Copyright © GERMS 2022.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To characterize clinical and epidemiologic features of SARS-CoV-2 in companion animals detected through both passive and active surveillance in the US. ANIMALS: 204 companion animals (109 cats, 95 dogs) across 33 states with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infections between March 2020 and December 2021. PROCEDURES: Public health officials, animal health officials, and academic researchers investigating zoonotic SARS-CoV-2 transmission events reported clinical, laboratory, and epidemiologic information through a standardized One Health surveillance process developed by the CDC and partners. RESULTS: Among dogs and cats identified through passive surveillance, 94% (n = 87) had reported exposure to a person with COVlD-19 before infection. Clinical signs of illness were present in 74% of pets identified through passive surveillance and 27% of pets identified through active surveillance. Duration of illness in pets averaged 15 days in cats and 12 days in dogs. The average time between human and pet onset of illness was 10 days. Viral nucleic acid was first detected at 3 days after exposure in both cats and dogs. Antibodies were detected starting 5 days after exposure, and titers were highest at 9 days in cats and 14 days in dogs. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Results of the present study supported that cats and dogs primarily become infected with SARS-CoV-2 following expo- sure to a person with COVID-19, most often their owners. Case investigation and surveillance that include both people and animals are necessary to understand transmission dynamics and viral evolution of zoonotic diseases like SARS-CoV-2.

Covid-19 emerged as a pandemic outbreak that spread almost worldwide at the end of December 2019. While this research was carried out, the Covid-19 pandemic was still ongoing. Many countries have made various attempts to overcome Covid-19. In Indonesia, the government and stakeholders, including researchers, have made many activities to reduce the number of positive patients. One of many activities that the government made is the vaccination program. The vaccination program is believed to be the most effective in reducing the number of positive cases of Covid-19. But nobody knows when the Covid-19 pandemic will end. Stakeholder has to know how the trend of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia to make a better decision for facing Covid-19 cases. This study aims to predict the number of positive Covid-19 cases in Indonesia by conducting a comparative analysis performance of Support Vector Regression (SVR) method and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) method in machine learning to the prediction of the number of Covid-19 cases. This study was conducted using the dataset Covid-19 in Indonesia from Control Team from 13 January 2021 until 08 November 2021 and with 300 records. The evaluation has been conducted to know the performance of the model prediction number of Covid-19 with Support Vector Regression method and Long Short-Term Memory method based on values of R-Square (R2), the value of Mean Absolute Error (MAE) and Mean Square Error (MSE). The research found that the method Support Vector Regression has better performance than Long Short-Term Memory method for making a prediction of the number Covid-19 using Machine Learning model based on the value of accuracy and error rate based with the value of R-Squared, MAE, and MSE are consecutively 0.902, 0.163, and 0.072. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

Covid-19 eruption and lockdown situation have increased the usages of online platforms which have impacted the users. Cyberbullying is one of the negative outcomes of using social media platforms which leads to mental and physical distress. This study proposes a machine learning-based approach for the detection of cyberbullying in Hinglish text. We use the Hinglish Code-Mixed Corpus, which consists of over 6,000 tweets, for our experiments. We use various machine learning algorithms, including Logistic regression (LR), Multinomial Naive Bayes (MNB), Support vector machine (SVM), Random Forest (RF), to train our models. We evaluate the performance of the models using standard evaluation metrics such as precision, recall, and F1-score. Our experiments show that the LR with Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TFIDF) outperforms the other models, achieving 92% accuracy. Our study demonstrates that machine learning models can be effective for cyberbullying detection in Hinglish text, and the proposed approach can help identify and prevent cyberbullying on social media platforms. © 2023 Bharati Vidyapeeth, New Delhi.

Numerous advantages to inhalation vaccines Vaccines delivered via inhalation enable targeting of the respiratory tract mucosa and generation of both humoral and cell-mediated immunity, according to Pierre A. Morgon, executive vice president. [...]inhaled vaccines delivered as liquids using nebulizers can potentially be administered with lower requirement for extensive healthcare infrastructure or as many trained healthcare personnel within an immunization centre (2). Researchers at McMaster University, for instance, have shown inhalation of a tuberculosis vaccine to be more effective than delivery via nasal sprays, because the vaccine penetrates much deeper into the airway (8). Because inhaled vaccines provide local immunity to the respiratory tract, they are seen to be ideal solutions for interrupting the spread of viruses with high transmission rates and the potential to lead to global pandemics (9). Beyond these two approaches, there are inhalation vaccines under development based on attenuated influenza virus, parainfluenza virus (PIV) 5, lentiviruses, Newcastle disease virus (NDV), and vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV);bacterium vectors, nucleic acids (messenger RNA, DNA), and protein subunits (3).

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Mosquito-borne diseases have historically affected communities, especially in tropical areas where mosquitoes and illnesses are endemic. Globalization, climate change, and increased travel have created ideal conditions for outbreaks of mosquito-borne diseases that could threaten the American health system and place a burden on the national economy, especially in southern states. Methods: The study adopts a quantitative cross-sectional design with a retrospective survey carried out using the Pollfish platform in June 2022. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and hierarchical multiple regression to assess the three hypotheses: (H1) Chikungunya awareness is related to sociodemographic factors;(H2) Wearing long sleeves and pants is related to (a) Chikungunya awareness and (b) information-seeking behaviors, when controlling for sociodemographic variables;(H3) Use of insect repellents is related to (a) Chikungunya awareness and (b) information-seeking behaviors when controlling for sociodemographic variables. Results: The results highlight the relationships between chikungunya's awareness, information-seeking behavior, and willingness to engage in protective behaviors. 45.91% of the participants mentioned not having heard about chikungunya, and 67.07% of respondents had sought information about mosquito-borne illnesses in the past, 55.9% have looked at the U.S. State Department's website for mosquito-borne diseases, 38.32% have visited the U.S. CDC website for information specifically about chikungunya. Conclusions: The results of this study show that most American travelers are unaware of chikungunya and its mode of transmission. Travel could likely introduce the chikungunya virus to the United States. Despite increased health information-seeking behavior among U.S. residents after the Covid19 pandemic, Chikungunya awareness is low.

ABSTRACT

Toxoplasmosis is a zoonotic illness that spreads from animals to people. Toxoplasma gondii, a protozoan parasite that infects warm-blooded mammals, causes the sickness. Toxoplasmosis is a parasitic infection that causes abortion and death in animals. Cats are the parasite's sole sexual hosts, thus they're the only ones who can get it. Because cats are frequent pets, they are highly likely to come into touch with humans. As a result, the disease poses a risk to human health. The potential danger is influenced by the frequency of oocyst secretion and the level of contamination in the environment. Toxoplasmosis has serious consequences for both animal and human health, hence preventative actions should be taken to reduce the dangers. COVID-19 is affected by such methods as well. Toxoplasmosis is thought to increase immunological and immunosuppressive factors, which increases the chance of SARS-CoV-2 infection and the severity of the resulting COVID-19. Research into Toxoplasma gondii intermediate hosts might help understand COVID-19's dynamics and determine if the virus can be transferred from animals to humans. We explore what we know about Toxoplasma gondii infection as a human parasitosis and how it may alter the course of SARS-CoV-2 infection in this review study.

ABSTRACT

The Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) has been applied to provide health care facilities for elders and parents. Remote health care is essential for providing scarce resources and facilities to coronavirus patients. Ongoing IoMT communication is susceptible to potential security attacks. In this research, an artificial intelligence-driven security model of the IoMT is also proposed to simulate and analyses the results. Under the proposed plan, only authorized users will be able to access private and sensitive patient information, and unauthorized users will be unable to access a secure healthcare network. The various phases for implementing artificial intelligence (AI) techniques in the IoMT system have been discussed. AI-driven IoMT is implemented using decision trees, logistic regression, support vector machines (SVM), and k-nearest neighbours (KNN) techniques. The KNN learning models are recommended for IoMT applications due to their low consumption time with high accuracy and effective prediction. © 2023 IEEE.
